Comment for handhelds

Main limitation of handhelds:
A small display is not comfortable for read information.
The small screen is only suitable for 2 to 3 people to share, so it is difficult for presentation.
The keyboard is so small and should input the word one by one, so affects the effectiveness to input information.
Easy to lost and destroy, especially used by primary and junior secondary students.
Handhelds are quite expensive for school to buy and to maintain.

Advantages of handhelds
Handhelds’ size small and user friendly, they can storage lot of information and can instead of a bulky note paper for students to share files.
Handhelds are useful connectivity tool for information exchange, capture tool for internet connect and calculation tool for calculate.
Handhelds to gather up the function of note book, dictionary, calculator, camera and video… functions in one.

The educational value of handhelds in my school library
My students are moderate mentally handicapped children. Their mentally age are lower than the actual age, and their cognitive abilities are very weak. So, they cannot use handhelds by themselves. Besides, their fingers are not agile, the small screen and keyboard are difficult for them to use. Therefore, only few of them can use handhelds with teachers support.However, I believe handhelds are the useful learning tools for general students, especially to collect the data during field trips.
